Like any other fish it just depends I have had mine for over two years and never had a problem with it... you must have plenty of live rock to feed on but also mine eats frozen shrimp and loves it, every day about the same time it comes to the front of the tank and eats just as my other fish do. The key is to get it to eat other things and it will be just fine.

Mandarins are very easy to keep as long as you have enough lr to support the copepod population for the mandarin to feed.
I saw a mandarin once that feed on tetra bits.!!

I have a couple questions I think you guys can answer.
1. Are green serpent stars considered reef safe?
2. Are Mandarins hard to keep?

TIA
Chris
