I'm sure you've all discussed this to death, but as I've been largely out of touch with many communities over the past few weeks, I thought I'd ask you folks what impact, if any, you think "The Scorpion King" may have on the sword-and-sorcery genre in terms of increased interest in books, movies, comics, etc.
The trailers seem to be improving in quality, but I cannot get over the fact that the first one reminded me (in a rather disappointing fashion) of the first "Beastmaster" movie. I suppose fantasy worlds in low-to-mid budget movies always look like deserts because the locations are less expensive, but how are these civilizations supposed to rise and support themselves? At least with "Kull" we got to see some countryside that wasn't barren and rocky, and they even had more than one city.
