I have never read the book, but I would not be surprised if it differed significantly from the movie, which I have watched. The film represents a somewhat femenine point of view of REH, as obviously it recounts the impressions of Novalyne Price. It seems, to me, to picture REH as a loveable though somewhat zany and uncultured individual. >From his letters, mostly, I imagine him as a very cultured and deeply thoughful individual, though he may have been "putting on a show" for Novalyne. I have not met the lady, and wonder if she has ever addressed this issue.
