Follow-up Comment #1:
Could you include the output of running the following command:
$ relax -i
It could have something to do with the Gnome desktop and GTK3, but the
information from the above command would be very useful for the wxPython and
other packages. On all other systems, you should see the standard minimise,
maximise, and close buttons in the title bar of that window.
