These actually work pretty well if you throw the onboard duplexer away. It may not work at all depending if your local band plan is high in or low in. The little tension wires on the resonators are very important, don't try to use it without one on every can. Mine runs 8 watts out of a flat pack duplexer with zero desense. It is up at 5,500 feet in the high sierra and it is solid for a 90 mile radius. The receivers are hot and everything pretty well works as it should. The volume controls and squelch controls are really crappy but are still available from Yaesu Vertex in California. It is a bit tricky to get RCA type connectors that will bend enough to get into the RX and TX outputs but it can be done with a bit of digging. I found some 90 degree types at a local surplus store and they worked just fine. Just drill another hole in the rear panel and use a SMA or BNC chassis mount connector for the receiver and use the old type N for the transmitter by using a chunk of the coax that went to the duplexer. You could also salvage those connectors too if you can find a coax to match.
