<---2 things here. You say they can't "get into the local 2 meter repeater"
- sounds like a receiver issue to me, not a transmitter one.

Secondly, going from 62 watts to 100 watts (at the duplexer end of the
feedline) isn't going to make much (if any) difference pentrating a steel
building.

Thirdly, your amp will live much longer throttled back as it is versus
running it "balls out". That it's rated continuous duty doesn't change
anything.

IMHO of course :-)
