You cannot replace the Quantar's internal controller which is necessary for the station to operate, however, you can interface the Quantar to external devices such as a CAT controller. That way you can get features that the Quantar does not have such as voice ID's, courtesy tones, announcements and so on. There is a tab in the Quantar service manual called "System Applications" that shows how to make the connections for PTT, COR, Rx and Tx audio. To do this, the Quantar must have a wireline interface board installed. This also presumes that you are talking about analog only operation. If you want to do P25 digital or mixed-mode operation, you will require a DIU3000 to host the interface to an axternal controller. Yahoo!
