For once and for all, 10 years ago I would have cluged together a simple COR circuit with a hang time capacitor for keying and hook loudspeaker audio to mic input thru a pad - NO MORE.
BUY a simple controller from any of a number of places check the internet - do a google search - hook it up according to their instructions and get on with life. If you have trouble, email the folks who sold you the controller. You get hang time, audio coupling, time out timer, control receiver input, morse ID and other features too numerous to mention, all for less than $100 (some less than $50) Consider the purchase of the ARRL Handbook or ARRL FM and Repeaters for more detailed information. If this is too difficult find a fellow ham in your community that might help you - there should be at least one other ham who is willing - why else have a repeater? A bottle of good Scotch or Irish whiskey should be suitable enticement. Merry Christmas to all, and to this 'simple controller topic' a good night. AR SK. sb
