That's right, most people ground both ends of shielded audio cable. You should probably be using a shielded pair, with the pair being the audio circuit, and shield around the pair grounded at only ONE end. The goal is to not have any current flowing in the shield. Shields are often handled this way in radio stations and other pro audio applications. Laryn K8TVZ
