Along a generic theme... you can assume there are three VHF Band
segements for operation in the 138-174 range. The low split receiver
is good from 138 to about 152/155 MHz (working from memory). The
second range is about the 149 to 161 MHz range although not stated
as this value in the manual. The third is the high range receiver
from about 160 to 174 MHz.

Both the mid and low range receivers should tune into the 2-Meter
Amateur Bands no problama. I'm running a number of mid range boards
at 145.310 with great results.

Most of the issue with the receiver board is the front-end
pre-selector assembly follow by the oscillator (channel element)
injection chain range (per receiver range model/version)

Only the high range 160-174 range receiver is not a practical
animal for Amateur 2-Meter Band operation. However, it can be
converted up to the 224 Amateur Band if you have the time and
tools to "do it right".

The transmitter board is pretty broad banded and relative to
the 138-174 band one board should operate through the entire
range.

There are versions of both the receiver and transmitter board
specified for duplex and standard simplex operation. The duplex and
high rf version boards have additional connector filtering at the
edge pins/plug.

I have tried and use both the duplex and base station (simplex)
boards in repeater applications without a problem.

Like everything... (as seen on ebay and the flea markets) the price
of surplus MSR-2000 repeater and base station units are starting to
drop to a very practical value. You need only ensure you have a
duplex version with a working RF PA and a receiver you can range
into your desired band to rock and roll. All the rest is standard
Motorhead (Motorola) Repeater 101.

cheers,
skipp
