I would agree -- the R1225 is a great radio, forget about the rest of the GR chassis.

The R1225 is a very good low duty cycle repeater, is programmable.
You can use the GR1225, but you only need the R1225 chassis and a
duplexer with double shielded RF interconnect cables. The R1225 runs
on 12 volts, so the AC power supply in the GR housing is not needed.
