In the 1980's I had the following setup:
1978 Camaro with:
100 watt Micor (12 freq) on 10 meter FM
50 watt Motran LLT CHiP radio on 52.525 MHz
Icom 50 watt 2 meter radio
police/fire scanner to keep tabs on local activity
CB radio
All radios individually wired directly to battery
100 amp alternator

Today I am in the process of setting up the following:
1998 Ford Explorer with third row seat to carry all my kids
Icom 706-MII-G for HF/10 meter/6 meter and backup 2 meter/440
Kenwood dual band radio for 2 meter/440 MHz
Motorola 900 radio
2.4 GHz roof antenna to connect computer for wireless networking
police/fire scanner
second (deep-cycle) battery to power up all radios and isolate radio power
feed from rest of vehicle
a single 6 gauge power run from second battery to rear to power all radios
(with ground return)
130 amp alternator
