The toroid will look nice if nothing else. If it's a hum, I might bet on an audio ground loop. I just solved one with another brand (not yours Ken) controller that had gone on for years (before I arrived on the scene). Many people don't know how to properly handle audio grounds so you sometimes "get the hum". s.
