Michael,

You'll need to forget the storage set from Retrospect before you can erase
it. Go to Configure-->Storage Sets (or Backup Sets in 4.2), highlight the
given storage set and press the big "Delete" key on your keyboard. Once the
storage set is forgotten, Retrospect will allow you to erase it and re-use
the tape. If this does not help or if you have already done this, I
recommend giving Tech Support a phone call at 925.253.3050.

Subject: Unable to erase DLT tapes

Here's a new one - anyone ever see this before?

We rotate our DLT tapes after a year. Normally it's a simple process
loading the tape, checking to see that it is from an old storage set then
performing an erase. Been doing it this way for years. What happens now
is that once the erase key is pressed and "short" erase has been specified
a dialog window pops up asking me to browse to the location of the old
storage set name. Of course this is difficult since that old storage set
was archived a long time ago. Any ideas?
The workaround is to put the tapes in the Win version and do the erase.

Retrospect Server 4.2 / Mac G4 8.6OS

Thx,
