       This is hard to read. A simpler way is
   ```
   if (${eval1.isNull}) {
     ...
   } else {
     if ($isZero) throw new ArithmeticException("divide by zero"); // add if 
`failOnError=true`
     ${ev.value} = $operation;
   }
   ```
