Github user srowen commented on the pull request: https://github.com/apache/spark/pull/5354#issuecomment-92747236 I think I'm not getting across the first point: why can't you solve this with an entry in `dependencyManagement` that declares the desired version of thrift to include, for example? That particular example might be tricky, but, then simpler examples like `commons-beanutils`. I am 95% sure this is not necessary, like much of this. My second point is still different, and it's a question about `tachyon-client` itself. Why does it depend on these things if they're not used, and can that be fixed upstream?
