Looks more like an issue with type mapping. Right now I see two main category of problems: - mapping assumes homogeneous types on R side which affects both lists and environments - type checking is done after data is converted to row-wise representation, when column type is lost. It affects array-like structures (array, matrix). I'll submit JIRA for these.
