    For boosting, it's common to use even depth 1 trees (stumps).  For RFs, I'm 
pretty sure that many more trees are needed (at least enough for a Central 
Limit Theorem to kick in).  I'd say:
    * For most problems, the current method is fine.
    * For boosting small trees or stumps, we may need a specialized 
implementation at some point but should not worry for now.
