Actually this data, a few hundred gigabytes, was restored from a backup,
after an RHEL3 server failed, but it turned out the server/service wasn't
quite ready to run on RHEL5. Was hoping to avoid reformatting and
re-restoring the partition.
We were able to fsck using a rescue disk, then disabled fsck in /etc/fstab
('0' in last column), and got the partition mounted. Hopefully the power
stays on till we get a chance to upgrade the server.
