Hello,
We are using 768 MB of memory for dom0 with clusterware and set
dom0-min-mem to 0 so that it does not balloon low. Some extra memory is
always useful - when it comes to copying domUs, a core dump occurrs in a
domU etc..

Regards,
    Daniel

Subject: Re: [rhelv5-list] Xen , Out of memory and dom0-min-mem

2009/6/7 FM <[email protected]>

        Hello
2 of 3 of my xen nodes ( dom0) died tonight because of out of
memory error.
These servers are only running Xen and cluster suite packages.
I googled the error and everything point out to dom0-min-mem
option of xen

        I left it by default : (dom0-min-mem 256)

I read about on the internet but still do not understand this
parameter and if if should be =0 on servers

        any advice ?

My xen servers have

       kernel /boot/xen.gz dom0_mem=582M

I don't know why I arrived at that actual value, it may be a typo.
Basically, however, that fixes dom0's memory at enough to handle its I/O
demands and not a lot else.

It sounds as though if you're running out of memory in dom0 that you've
either ballooned too low or you're trying to use dom0 as a general
purpose machine -- best practice seems to be to use dom0 as management
for the domU's and nothing else.
