Correct.

Try testing the iSCSI LUNs from dom0 first.

some file-based benchmarks (to generate real load).

Good idea. They do have real filesystems on them. I stopped the DomU and mounted them in the Dom0, and ran bonnie++ on them. There was some variation between 47 and 65 M/s, depending on task, but that's in the range and they all completed successfully. That seems like a fairly good test of the iSCSI back end under normal usage.

Do you have errors on the iSCSI target?

No, I checked the error logs and ZFS statuses, and all looks good there. Even when iSCSI locks up under Xen control, they don't show any errors, and come right back when I restart iscsi.
