This happened to me several months ago when creating a new RHEL template and I 
uninstalled the HAL daemon package, so I don't think it's a new dependency.

However, there's no question that the dependency chains are getting very long 
and burdensome when trying to create a slim server image.  You can't get rid of 
cups printing without removing important parts of the GUI.  Removing libvorbis 
wants to remove firstboot, of much of the GUI, system-config-keyboard, and 
system-config-soundcard.

The fewer packages you have installed, the fewer patches you have to apply.  I 
don't like having to through a patch cycle because of a libvorbis security 
erratum and I can't remove the package from my oracle database servers.
