One thing I forgot to mention (if it could influence device ordering):
eth0 and eth1 are bond to one device (bond0) for load sharing...
and server runs RHEL5

Hi all!
I have a server with 2 onboard network-devices (tg3) and one additional
network card (e100).
Everytime there is a kernel update the order of these devices gets
corrupt. So I tried to add
the following "rules-file" to /etc/udev/rules.d:
[r...@atvies00qx rules.d]# cat 50-net-persistent.rules
KERNEL=="eth?", SYSFS{address}=="00:30:05:aa:df:fb", NAME="eth0" #
MAC of first on-board interface in lowercase
KERNEL=="eth?", SYSFS{address}=="00:30:05:9d:27:8d", NAME="eth1" #
MAC of second on-board interface in lowercase
KERNEL=="eth?", SYSFS{address}=="00:02:b3:b3:a8:9a", NAME="eth2" #
MAC of additional interface in lowercase
I works for reboots as long as there is no new kernel. When updating
the kernel, again the
order gets corrupted...
Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or do you know a better (i.e. safe)
way to do this?

Btw... I've also a similar problem with a autochanger-device on a
CentOS-system (sometimes device is
/dev/sg3, sometimes it's sg7.....)
