Is it possible.. yes. You may only have a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of
getting it done correctly but it is possible. How? It really depends
on each system and a lot of hand holding. By the time you figured it
out and got it working the other sysadmins will have done a backed-up,
reinstalled with x86_64, restored, and finished post-configuration,
and gone off to celebrate the weekend.
