Just a little follow up/update-correction. The bug #673512
is closed and marked as a duplicate of *Bug
679121<https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679121>
*

This was an unwise move on the part of Redhat. The 679121
bug report is about the deprecated warnings from using
the older version of PHP pear. The newer bug report
this has been merged into was almost closed as a result
of Redhat Project Management making a ruling on how
the deprecated warnings issue would not be fixed.

Just because two bugs or requests will have a common
solution does not make them into the same bug!

But anyway, yes, add yourself to *Bug
679121<https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679121>if you
want Pear brought up to date with php 5.3.
