The crontab entry for the backup:
# Perform a database backup each Friday at 2330
30 23 * * 5 /root/bin/backup_db 2>&1 | mail -s "Satellite database backup" 
[email protected]
#

I'm uncertain about the reference to the other cronjob.  I only mentioned 
logwatch since it runs and sends email daily, indicating that cron and sendmail 
appear to be functioning normally.
