The original idea with the RIA pt group is to create a community for sharing and exchanging ideas/knowledge/motivation/examples of RIA solutions.
For this purpose we have absolutely no need to be an official Adobe "approved" group. The motivation for being involved with RIA solutions should be for the RIAs themselves, not because the group is associated by Adobe. Remember that Adobe is only one (out of many) providers of tools to build RIAs. Adobe has great interest in the market of Portugal and will no doubt approach the group if enough people, with enough motivation are involved. The RIA pt group will not gain anything (on the contrary) by pushing for this to happen. As was mentioned there was already created an official Adobe group in Portugal and to my knowledge it is pretty quiet (not to say dead). I suggest that people who are very interested in supporting an official Adobe group redirect themselves to this group. The RIApt group is for people with passion (thus motivation) for everything involved with building Rich Internet Applications.
