Description:
Packaging showcase from sources which are in the distribution zip causes to add
to the final packaged .war a persistence.xml which contains just opening and
closing tags.
The persistence.xml in src/main/resources-jbas71/META-INF is correct.

When packaging showcase in the same way from the sources cloned from git hub
(the same tag as the release number) everything works like a charm.
