message from the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action.
Dear Patriot--
Have you ever
heard the phrase, "Never let a
good crisis go to
waste"? Those are the words
of Barack Obama's former
chief
of staff, Rahm Emanuel. And
they describe how President
Obama's
administration is exploiting a
terrible tragedy to pursue the political agenda
they’ve been after for years –
eliminating your constitutional
right to keep and bear arms.
The National Rifle
Association’s Institute for
Legislative Action (NRA-ILA)
is committed to stopping this
attack on our freedom.
Together,
you and I can get it done.
But we don’t have much time. I need
you to
support the NRA-ILA’s
effort to fight back today
before it’s too late.
President Obama and his point
man on this issue,
Vice-President Joe Biden, will
use every
resource at their disposal to
push their anti-freedom
agenda
through Congress. Even worse,
their proposals are not a
serious
attempt to reduce crime or
mass violence in this country.
As Biden himself said in a
recent interview, “nothing
we’re going to do is going to
fundamentally alter or
eliminate the possibility of
another mass shooting.”
Don’t just take my word for it
–read it the highlights the
memo prepared by Obama’s
Department of Justice:
* “Universal Background
Checks”: The memo says that the
effectiveness of so-called "universal" background
checks "depends on … requiring gun
registration."
* “Assault Weapons”: The memo says that "… an
assault weapons ban is unlikely to
have an impact on gun violence”,
unless “coupled with a gun
buyback and no exemptions."
Make no mistake. The term “gun buyback” is meaningless,
as the government can’t “buy back”
something it never owned in the first place. What the Obama
Justice Department is talking about in this memo is the mandatory
government confiscation of
lawful firearms.
You and
I both know that sweeping new
restrictions on the rights
of
honest citizens will not make
America safer, as criminals
will
continue to break the law
with impunity. But if
Obama and Biden are
successful, millions of law abiding
Americans will no longer
have an effective means to
defending themselves and
their families.
My friend, the only way to
stop this from happening is to
support the NRA’s Institute
for Legislative Action. The
NRA-ILA defends your right to
keep and bear arms in
Congress, the state capitols,
and the courts every day. But
we can’t do it without your help.
In order to counter the
Obama-Biden machine, we have
to get every freedom-loving
American involved in this
fight. That means:
* Running television,
radio and online ads
letting
members of the U.S.
Senate and House of
Representatives
know that if they support
restrictions on our gun rights, their constituents will know it;
* Correcting the lies and misinformation about lawful gun
ownership being pushed by the biased news media every
day; and
* Mobilizing a grassroots army to push back against our
opponents’ efforts to push Chicago, New York City, and
Washington, D.C.-style gun control in every city
and town throughout the country.
Unfortunately, this effort will be expensive.
But we can’t afford to leave the
fight to others. It’s up to us to save
this freedom for our children and
grandchildren.
So if you

The future of the Second
