Hello everyone!

I have not been following the development of Ring for a long time, so I don't know what led to some of the more recent decisions. I tried to search in the archives, but didn't find anything. If there has already been question/discussion on the subject here, I apologise for duplicating.

Since some time ago, Ring project appears to invite people to help with translations on Transifex. May I ask what were the reasons you picked Transifex as your translation platform? From what I know, Transifex is a proprietary service that also employs non-free JavaScript on the web.

Personally, I have used the mailing list to contribute translations, and I'm glad I can do that, but it would still be very nice if Ring embraced and promoted free programs as the main means of contribution. I've been told that Zanata was also considered. What were the drawbacks of it and the reasons it was not used in the end?

Whatever the situation is, I hope the platform might be changed in the future. May Ring keep getting more awesome!

Regards,
Tirifto
