Robert,
thank you for response. To answer your question:
This is the second type (black and white dots) problem, but this
one is apparently can not be solved by recovery utility. Unless
there is some other utility which I have not tried yet. I have tried
recovery v.2.15 and 2.12 that can be found on diamond ftp site.
Both have not worked.

The Rio500 does respond to USB commands though. I am still hoping
to find some diagnostic or repair utility that will solve the problem

Regards

Max

What type of 'grey screen' is it?

There is the grey screen where the player simply doesn't turn on and the
grey screen with black and clear dots.

The first (not turning on) is a problem I have had and, unfortunately, I
had to send the player back to Diamond (in the uk) because it was not
even talking to the usb port so i could do nothing :(

I have heard the second problem (black and white dots) can be solved
with a format and firmware re-install.

Robert
