Robert, thank you for response. To answer your question: This is the second type (black and white dots) problem, but this one is apparently can not be solved by recovery utility. Unless there is some other utility which I have not tried yet. I have tried recovery v.2.15 and 2.12 that can be found on diamond ftp site. Both have not worked.
The Rio500 does respond to USB commands though.
