It's relying on the error concealment (interpolation) algorithm in standard audio CD players to hide them.
Some CD drives do error concealment in their firmware (eg. my Plextor PX-712A does). Others do not, with the result that the uncorrected errors come through as ticks. I'd suggest trying to rip it in a different drive: ask your friends to try it out on their drives.
