I second the Plextor recommendation although you are paying through the
nose for the Plextor name.

I want to point out that the term "Ripping" in marketing material is
-much- different than EAC Secure mode. Secure mode is a very slow
process because its ensuring that you are getting an exact copy.
Ripping will be much faster (15-30x) on pretty much any newer DVD drive
if you don't use Secure mode (personally, I want to be sure, so I use
Secure more for everything).

One of the benifits of buying a Plextor is that you can use Plextools
which allows you to rip in a mode similar to EAC Secure mode at much
faster speeds.

One more point, are you converting to a codec when you rip or is it
straight to WAV? Although system dependent, my system rips faster
(PlexWriter 48/24/48U and AMD 2800+) than the FLAC encoder encodes...
this means that it doesn't matter how much faster my CD-drive is... its
still going to have to wait for the computer to finish compressing to
FLAC... so I'm not saving any time by buying a faster CD-Rom.
