It's a bit like that famous Wordperfect tech support call, except that I
haven't had a power cut...

So, I have my whole collection of CDs as pristine FLAC files and I need
to turn them into lovely MP3s so that I can put them on my iPod. I find
Robin Bowes program and go to a page that is incomprehensible to
someone whose only programming language is BASIC (and that was 25 years
ago). So I browse the forums and find this useful thread:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=16240&highlight=flac2mp3

I follow the instructions to the letter (I think):
1. Download and install PERL from activestate
2. Download and install FLAC
3. Download and install LAME
4. Download flac2mp3 from Robin's site

Then I see some stuff about paths so I create a directory called
flac2mp3 and dump into that flac2mp3, the unzipped lame directory and
the unzipped flac directory. Then I get nervous about paths again so I
move the contents of the flac program directory and the lame program
directory into the flac2mp3 directory so that all the application files
are sitting in the same place.

Finally, I fire up a command prompt, change to the c:\flac2mp3
directory and type "flac2mp3.pl M:FLAC M:mp3" (without the quotes). All
it does is open flac2mp3 in Notepad!

Cue much swearing and playing around with M:\flac and M:\\flac to see
if I have messed up the syntax.

I give up now... can someone tell me what I have done wrong.
PLEEEEEEEEEESE.

Andrew
