Hi Folks, Well I've just joined the exciting world of SB3 after a friend lent me a spare one which he'd bought for his bedroom. As I told him through gritted teeth "The only way you're getting this back is by prising it from my cold dead hand...."
Anyway, I'd read all that people have said about format, quality, easy of use, not shackling yourself to an 'Apple only' file format (have an MP3 player in my car) and had opted for using Easy CD-DA to rip everything to FLAC. The only problem is the speed (or lack of it). I have a 2.53GHz processor, 1GB RAM, plenty of HD space and it's been rebuilt recently to 'tidy things up' and is well protected by anti-virus/firewall software. I know that it's not up to the spec of brand new PCs but I'm only getting around x3.8 speed while ripping/encoding. Is this unusual? I've got nearly 2000 CDs to wade through and at an average of say 15 mins per disc that's nearly 3 weeks! (if I rip 24/7 without sleep or work). As a reference, ripping with iTunes to Apple's lossless runs around x25 and to 320kpbs using Musicmatch around x30 -- hifisteve ------------------------------------------------------------------------ hifisteve's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4227 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=21544 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
