I seem to have difficulty ripping the later tracks in long CDs (eg best
of compilations).

Towards the end of the CD ripping gets more and more slow with read and
synch errors. By the last track it pretty well grinds to a halt (I left
one track ripping for 1hr 45 mins, and it was still only 50% complete,
and running at 0.0% read speed. If I rip in burst mode the ripped track
plays fine, and indeed the track plays fine direct from the CD.

I am using EAC in secure mode, accurate stream, no audio cache.
I was wondering whether the offset automatically set by EAC is wrong as
a test tool at
http://www.feurio.com/English/Download/download_install.shtml reports
an offset of zero for my drive rather than EAC's 48. But I can find no
way of overriding EAC's setting so as to test (I even tried
re-installing).
