Tools vs. projects is in the eye of the beholder, but I can heartily
endorse Robins flac2mp3.pl script. It might be even easier than the
short 5-step process he outlined. Since your music files are flac, you
likely already have flac.exe on your computer. If you don't have lame,
you can easily pick it up from lame.sourceforge.net, and if you don't
have perl, you can get it from
http://activestate.org/Products/ActivePerl/.
Don't bother changing your path. flac.exe and lame.exe are really small
files, so just put copies of them in the same directory as flac2mp3.pl.
Likewise, don't bother putting flac2mp3.pl in your path -- just
navigate to that directory in the DOS command window. Run a command
line like Robin's example, which has got to be easier than any gui out
there ("GUI? We don't need no stinkin' GUI!") and you're done.
foobar2000 and the others are all fine software, but they do a lot of
things so they're more complex, gui notwithstanding. But if there was
ever a tool made to do exactly what you're proposing, imho Robin's
script is it.
