If you have clean rips, you should not have to re-rip. You just need to clear all the tags and write proper tags.
IMO, there is no one complete tagging solution that suits my needs. I use Tag & Rename, accompanied by extensive research from the All-Music Guide and other sources. The best way is to decide where you want to end up, then figure out how to get there. In my case I didn't want the year the ALBUM was released, because for example the Neil Diamond boxed set was released in 1993 but the SONGS were released over a period of 30 years. I want "Cherry, Cherry" to show up when I "browse by year" 1967, not 1993. That required figuring out when each song was originally released, a major pain. But now that it's done, my collection is much more relevant to my needs. Other may have different needs. It's an individual choice. I think that one thing that can help all present and future manipulation of tags is to embed a unique identifier, like a Musicbrainz ID - from that, it's easy to figure out exactly which version of a track you have. Some songs appear on 50 or more albums! -- Pale Blue Ego ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pale Blue Ego's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=110 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24341 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
