Last night I did some research and got the FLAC plugin for Winamp. I ripped Psychedelic Furs' "Midnight to Midnight" CD into FLAC. The file sizes were 5 times the MP3 file sizes.
That is not a big surprize. MP3 often get 10 to one compression and FLAC and other lossless get 2 to 1 or so.
Went downstairs and listened to several tracks, comparing the MP3 files to the FLAC files. Any ideas why I'm not hearing difference between FLAC and VBR MP3?
Are you using wired or wireless? Have you checked your Slimserver conversion table? It might be converting your flac to mp3 for you. And there is always a chance that you, your ears, brain, or system doesn't have a difference, in which case, use what you enjoy. But on my system, the difference is clear if you listen for it. -- Pat http://www.pfarrell.com/music/slimserver/slimsoftware.html _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
