Wirehed, if you followed the Wiki instructions on setting up EAC, you would NOT have checked the "Fill up missing samples with silence" box on the EAC Extraction tab.
I had exactly the same problem as you and I fixed it by checking that same box, as suggested to me by someone on this forum. I have not had a single repeat of this error and I've ripped more than 500 CD's since then.
