Just ran it for a rebuild of my entire collection (8,200 tracks). I ran it on my desktop pointing at network drives mounted from my slow Epia Via media server. It took around 24 hours.
Windows XP Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 (1.8Ghz) overclocked to 3Ghz 2GB RAM (it ran just as fast with 1GB though) The same run takes over a week running directly on the media server: Fedora FC5 Linux (headless, no Xwindows) Epia Via M1000 (C3 1Ghz) 512MB RAM Unfortunately my flac2mp3 runs always have to be all or nothing. When it tries to just update tags it renders some of the (VBR) files unplayable on my 2nd Gen Nano (they played fine on older iPods). I spent ages trying to get to the bottom of this (and tried many versions), but once I discovered I could rebuild the whole library "relatively" quickly via my desktop machine I decided to do just that occasionally. -- SadGamerGeek ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SadGamerGeek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6145 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35133 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
