Hi, I am sure this is fairly basic, but I have not been able to come up with a good workaround. I currently have two folders that are being scanned by Slimserver. One comes from my iTunes library containing MP3s. The other comes from an Olive Musica (HiFidelio) and contains almost entirely FLAC files. Both of these folders reside on a Qnap TS-109pro. Both the MP3 and FLAC directories contain some unique music and some of the same tracks.
Here is the problem: I would like to play the highest quality file whenever possible. However, in the situation where there is only an MP3, I would like to be able to access it without switching servers. In my current setup, if there is a disk that is in both MP3 and FLAC formats, I get two versions of each song if the album and artist names are exactly the same. Otherwise, I have two versions of each album. At the very least, I need a way to name the MP3 files so that they are easy to spot; boring down to the file format tag on the Squeezebox is slow. I can easily hear the difference, but that is also tedious. Has anyone else solved this problem? I suppose I can mannually copy over the unique MP3 files into the library and be done with it. Ideally, I want something that is automatic, so that I don't need to attend to it. Any ideas?
