I have been discussing music with my wife, she loves her music and Beethoven is her favourite. We don't have a good hi fi system so I went out and bought a Squeezebox V3 and some Aego M powered speakers. I loved it, it made me more interested in music and improved the listening experience (plus I love technology), and so I thought she would be pleased, (how wrong could I be). She is an accountant and hates spending money so would not acknowledge the fact that it is a better and more convenient way of putting music together, (she prefers her aging MP3 player and a pair of Sennheiser headphones) which incidentally I bought for her.
Anyway three weeks after purchasing the SB3 (to my knowledge she never used it herself) the display went wrong and I had to take it back and get a refund, (I think she was happy) she said, what are you going to do with the speakers? (hoping I could send them back too, I have no doubt) so I said, I am getting a Squeezebox Duet to go with them; well you could have cut the air with a knife (another £100.00). Now that I have found out the extras that are on the controller I am definitely getting the Duet (it will have headphone capability so eventually she should hopefully appreciate it). Anyway you might be wondering about where the title K2 HD comes in, this is a quote from an article about The K2 HD sampler disk, a 24-bit, 100 KHz music-mastering system that is compatible with any normal CD player:- "For the record: Ripped copies of this album do not sound as phenomenally good. Nor do exact duplicates. They lack the magic of the original. Don't even bother." Well my question is to all you audiophiles out there, how should I rip this CD onto my soon to be purchased Squeezebox Duet so I can get the wife to come around to my way of thinking? Many thanks for any replies and for taking the time to read about my troubles.
