Wow I can't believe this is here. I just was looking at some of my replay gain values in the squeezebox and they were way off. I then used mp3tag to check why and found out that the ones I had seen were all tagged originally in Itunes and had Itunes normalization. I suspected that the squeezecenter was adding the track gains together or something of that nature. I decided to come here to see if it was a known problem and wham this post. I'm going to try your technique if I understand it right and see if I can fix it. Thanks in advance.
