Thanks - I already have MM, but don't use it to put stuff onto the
iPod. I went back to using iTunes after some bad experiences with
Anapod, and haven't dared try anything else since.

(I still use Anapod CopyGear to copy content from the iPod, for fairly
arcane and historical reasons.)

On the whole I'm wary of on-the-fly transcoding; again, this might be
Anapod's fault, but I found the results both slow and unsatisfactory.
I used to use MM for transcoding too, but switched to using foobar2000
a while ago.

My main use of MediaMonkey is to inspect my playlists after I've been
re-ripping lots of albums; it makes it obvious which tracks need to be
updated in each playlist. However, I use foobar2000 to do the actual
updating, as it lets me drag-and-drop from a separate (file browser)
window into the playlist.

P.S. Just spotted that right now I'm listening to Philip Glass's String
"Qurtets"; oh thankyou, freedb :-)
