hi everyone! it would seem that officially, OGG files do not support embedded artwork such as albumart. (even though there seems to be some disagreement on this over at hydrogenaudio. ;-)
however, it looks as if it is possible that you CAN embed albumart in an OGG file by using custom vorbis tags. here is a post in bugzilla in which someone is doing this successfully: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=4418 this was a profound discovery to me, so i started looking for a windows tool that will embed albumart for me. i found AudioShell, which at least says it is doing it - after adding the artwork, it displays it properly. but my SC7 is not picking it up :-( here are some questions and guesses as to why: 1. do i have to add the artwork to *every* file within an album for it to display properly? even clicking on the single track i have tagged this way will not display the artwork, tho. 2. it seems that OGG files need to be "base64" encoded for this to work. how do i know if mine are base64 encoded or not? and if not, is there a simple way to convert? pls. bear in mind that AudioShell *is* displaying the artwork correctly, tho. 3. i completely removed the track from my library, did a "scan for changes", put the track back and did a "scan for changes" again. the track shows fine, just no album art. do i really need to do a "complete rescan"? i would hate to, because it scrambles my "new music" menu. Btw: the "other method" using cover.jpg in the directory works fine, so SC7 seems to be ok. embedded artwork in flacs and mp3s is showing up ok too. anyone with any experience or ideas? damasta ps. i run windows. ;-) -- dcote ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dcote's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9701 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=46759 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
