The good folk at Pristine allow you to do all this, and more, for free: http://www.pristineclassical.com/More/DownloadFormats.html where you can download a 1954 Heifetz of the first movement of the Mendelssohn in MP3, 16-bit FLAC and 24-bit FLAC. I doubt that with my current audio set-up (and my current ears!) that I can tell the difference between 16- and 24 bit (I'm away from home, so can't do a test....). But perhaps one day better equipment, or younger ears might be able to.
