In thinking about this, I've got LOTS of 48kHz files I play on my Transporter, although they are usually DTS or AC3 encodes, but if they played at the wrong speed they wouldn't decode. I have tried playing them on my SB3 since I don't have a decoder connected to it, but I'd imagine it would work the same.
