I ripped all of my CD's using EAC and sometimes got the same problem you are discussing. Sometimes it would correctly identify two CD's from the same collection, but tag them slightly differently. I think the issue is that EAC looks up Amazon for the tagging info and while this is normally very good for single CD's, it can vary when you have a 2 (or more) disc set. Often Amazon will give consistent information for eg 40 tracks of a 2CD collection, but will not be consistent (or even available) for each of the separate CD's. Thus when EAC looks up Amazon for the single CD of a 2 disc set, it may not get the right information, or may not be totally consistent between disc 1 and disc 2.
Bottom line for me is that ripping and tagging is never a 100% accurate task as a one shot deal. Thus while others might post alternative solutions, but for me it's down to one of two: 1. You get a better ripper and tagger (eg, dbPoweramp) or 2. You accept that ripping will never be perfect and you get an application to fix after ripping. (eg, Tag&Rename) Both cost money. I haven't used dbPoweramp for ripping and don't know how it will do for multiple disc albums. I think Tag&Rename is an essential utility if you're invsting a lot of time in ripping CDs and personally I've found it to be an essential tool. Tag&Rename has an 'Explorer' like feel to it, and you can rename folders, move files from folder to folder etc. A common issue is a two disc album being ripped to folder 1 (20 files/tracks) and folder 2 (20 files/tracks). An Amazon lookup for the album will give you a listing for the total 40 tracks. Tag& Rename is a good utility to eg, renumber the 2nd CD from 1 to 20 to 21 to 40, move all to the 1st folder & amalgamate to a total '40 track single CD'...which you can x-check tag by tag within Tag&Rename with Amazon.com dan -- chinablues ------------------------------------------------------------------------ chinablues's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7955 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=50106 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
