Agreed. I settled on 500 x 500 x 72dpi after some experimentation. I'm just now coming to the end of many weeks of standardising my tagging and adding artwork - not an exercise I'd like to repeat too many times :(
Just a tip on where to find some good quality artwork if you're not already aware: http://www.albumartexchange.com/ has 600 x 600 artwork http://www.lala.com/ has 550 x 550 Amazon has some, but by no means all, artwork at 500x500 If it's not there I scan at 300dpi and crop then re-size/re-sample down to my preferred size using an image editor.
